Fingerprint braille course - volumes 1 to 11

Product code: TC21439

Fingerprint is a contracted (grade 2) braille course, designed for people learning to read braille by touch because of sight loss. It can be used to teach others or as a self-teach course. It has proved to be successful with both young adults and older learners.

If you'd like to learn uncontracted (grade 1) braille we recommend the Dot-to-dot touch learners pack (TC21441).

Starting with pre-braille skills, the complete contracted braille code is taught in small steps, with plenty of practice exercises which include short reading passages and writing exercises.

The course consists of 11 braille volumes and includes sections covering practical daily uses of braille, capitalisation, and the code for representing email and web addresses. These volumes are used in conjunction with the instructional text, and include the Fingerprint braille course reference sign book (TC21440).

Course materials and instructions to order separately.

  • Instructions in print (TC21439P)
  • Instructions on audio CD (TC21439CD)
  • Instructions on multi-media CD (TC21439M)
  • Instructions in braille (TC21439B)

The multi-media CD, includes the instructions in three formats:

  • DAISY audio.
  • Word document in 16 point – which can be accessed on a computer or printed in a suitable font size.
  • Braille Ready File in contracted braille – ideal for experienced braillists supporting a touch learner.

Special orders

We work with partners to deliver products on our behalf. We will pass on your contact information to be able to deliver the product effectively. Whilst delivery is usually within seven days, it may take up to six weeks.

Articles for the Blind scheme

Most of our products and some publications in large print (16 point and above) can be sent by freepost under Royal Mail's "Articles for the Blind" scheme.

However, the Articles for the Blind scheme offers no guarantees of delivery or insurance for valuable items. Therefore we have to use alternative delivery methods, such as courier and Royal Mail services, for higher value orders.

Delivery charges

Where a product incurs a delivery charge this is highlighted in the product details and will be added to your order at checkout.

Dispatch note

When we send your products, the package will include a "dispatch note" with details of the contents. It is really important to check this against the actual contents of the package and alert us immediately (within seven working days of receiving the order) about any discrepancies.

If you find this product is unsuitable for your needs, or is faulty, then follow our returns instructions to ensure we deal with your enquiry efficiently.  Some products cannot be returned.  More information can be found in product description where applicable.

Special order products are non-returnable unless faulty. We kindly ask our customers to ensure that any faulty products being returned are packaged securely for stable transit, or the warranty may be voided. Where possible, please use the original packaging. These include specially ordered items that are not part of our standard range.
