Leave the real world behind for a little while this World Book Day (WBD) and hang out with Bluey or Paddington, ride with Eira as she takes on the Wolf Trials in a bid to become part of an elite group of warriors who ride gigantic sea wolves, or discover the mystery behind the fart that broke World Book Day…

You can request your preferred WBD book in braille or audio by calling our Helpline on 0303 123 9999. Browse the full list of WBD titles on the RNIB Library page for kids and teens, which also explains what information Helpline will ask you for and signposts anyone requiring the books in giant print to Guide Dogs.

If you’re looking for books that can be shared by braille readers and print readers, check out our shared reading books. We add clear plastic sheets with either contracted or uncontracted braille to the original print books so that they can be enjoyed by everyone.

Claire, who has two primary school-aged children and has been blind since the age of four, finds shared reading books essential for bringing stories to life for her two children in a way that isn’t possible with other technology solutions or audio books. She says: “When my children were born, I wanted to be the parent who read to them, encouraged their curiosity for books, and brought the bedtime story to life. Shared reading books have been an essential tool for me to do this, while enabling my sighted children to enjoy the pictures and, of course, mum’s sometimes silly character voices”.
