If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with glaucoma, it's natural to feel some anxiety about managing the condition. We've rounded up some helpful resources to put you back on the front foot.

1. Understanding Glaucoma

Our free Understanding Glaucoma booklet explains glaucoma, its causes, different types, monitoring, changes, and coping strategies. It’s available in large print, braille and audio. You can also ask our expert eye health team questions by calling 0303 123 9999 or emailing helpline@rnib.org.uk.

2. Managing medication

Eye drops are the most common treatment for glaucoma. This RNIB video gives clear, easy-to-follow advice on managing your medication to get the most from your treatment. (Download the transcript - managing your eye drops video (docx).)

3. Eye drop dispensers

Applying eye drops can be tricky – we sell a selection of products to help get your medication where it's supposed to be, with a minimum of fuss. Browse our range to find the one that suits your needs.

4. Low vision assessments

If glaucoma is picked up and treated early, you may not experience much of a change to your vision. If you do have some sight loss, there are a lot of things you can do to make the most of your remaining vision. This may mean making things bigger, using brighter lighting or using colour to make things easier to see. You should ask your ophthalmologist, optometrist or GP about low vision aids and getting a low vision assessment. During this assessment with an optometrist, you’ll be able to discuss the use of magnifiers and aids to help you to see things more clearly. We also have a series of booklets with helpful information on living with sight loss, including Starting out: Making the most of your sight.

5. Low vision products

If your optometrist thinks that magnifiers, lighting or other low vision aids would be useful to you, our Shop is a great place to find what you need!

If you can get to one of our Product and Advice Centres in London, Edinburgh or Belfast, you can make an appointment to test out the products that interest you before you buy. (We recommend making an appointment so that our teams can make sure they have the products you want to try available when you visit.)
