The BrailleDoodle has hundreds of small holes, each containing a ball bearing that can be easily pulled to the surface using a magnetic stylus. These balls lock into place with just the right amount of force, providing a tactile experience for users. To clear the tablet, simply push the balls back down.

Simple to use, the BrailleDoodle enables learners of all ages to write, draw, explore, and revise effortlessly.

The braille learning side of the tablet features a practice area for letters, numbers and words such as ‘and’, ‘the’ and ‘for’, plus two rows of 19 braille cells where learners can write and read words. Each character has a ‘no fail’ area, where only the dots required will work, next to a blank cell where learners can refine their skills by using the six operative holes to practise that character.

Letters, numbers and words are printed in yellow beneath the practice cells, along with standard braille for each character.

Beneath the two rows of 19 practice cells are two rows of standard braille: one row showcases the alphabet, the second row is the famous sentence encompassing every letter: “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”.

The doodle side of the tablet is a blank canvas with 43 × 31 holes, (1,333 dots), perfect for creating custom tactile graphics – from drawings to diagrams.

The tablet is supplied with two pre-designed stencils: one for the doodle side (a drawing of house with trees and the letter ‘H’) and one that overlays 84 braille cells.

The magnetic stylus is attached to the tablet by a spring cord and can be stored in a slot on the side of the tablet.
