Originally designed so that people with dementia can listen to music independently, this radio is also suitable for blind and partially sighted people who want to quickly find one of three favourite channels.

With large, high contrast, tactile on and off buttons, a large volume dial and four light-up buttons for choosing one of three pre-selected radio stations or an MP3 playlist on a USB stick, it’s ideal for people seeking simplicity in their radio.

The labels for each radio station are blank and can be filled in after the radio is set-up with the preferred stations (choose from DAB, DAB+ and FM stations in your area). Spare blank labels are provided in case you want to change the channels assigned to the memory buttons. You could also add braille labels or use tactile bumps for labelling, instead of hand writing the labels.

Sighted assistance may be required to set up your preferred stations and add a name to the label (for example, classical, 80s, or Radio 4). (The control panel is hidden at the back of the radio behind the battery door.)

Please note that songs on the USB stick are not skippable and can not be shuffled. To rearrange the playlist order, you will need to change the order of the files on the USB stick using a computer. The device will only play MP3 files, so cannot be used for Talking Books, Audible audio books, etc.

The radio runs on either mains power (cable and power adapter supplied) or on 4 × D batteries (not supplied). The volume cannot go to zero so you always know when the radio is on.

Please note, this device is not fully supported by Mac OS. MP3 files on a USB stick will play, but playlist issues may occur. Format in Windows for a more reliable result.
