Braille on medication boxes is great – if you read braille. And sometimes the pharmacy puts your tablets into a generic white box with only the prescription label to identify the contents. If either of these problems cause you anxiety when you take regular medication, a talking label audio labeller may be the solution.

The gadget can be easily clipped on to the medicine box and a short message recorded, for example: “Warfarin, 5mg. Take one, once a day with food.” You can play back the message at any time with the push of a button.

The device has a low profile, ergonomic design with one large, tactile ‘play’ button. Messages can be rerecorded if someone misspeaks, or the prescription information changes (for example, a lower or higher dose is required).  

The talking label audio labeller fits all standard pill box packaging, and its metal clip will grip the packaging securely.

To record a message, a pen must be pushed through a small hole on the back of the gadget, near the microphone. This prevents the message being accidentally erased. A small red light indicates when the device is recording.

Sighted assistance is required to record a message. You may want to ask your pharmacist to record the information needed.

The talking label audio labeller can also be used to identify other household items, such as washing powder, dishwasher tablets, cereal, tea bags, pasta, pet food pouches and other products that are stored in a box.
