One of William Morris's most popular botanical prints, Cray features large stem and peony-like flowers in pink and red with a secondary network of lighter-coloured flowers and leaves against a background of curling small leaves, stems and flowerheads, all underpinned by a solid block of dark blue. Designed in 1884, the pattern was named after a chalk stream in south-east London.
