Ever wished you could wave a magic wand and make the measurements on your scales, thermometer or tape measure really large, or spoken out loud? The IKONN Accessibility System might be the wand you're looking for!

This user-friendly family of products has been specifically designed to be accessible to blind and partially sighted people and consists of common household devices that can connect to the IKONN Controller, or to a free app, so that their measurements can be heard via the controller or read in high contrast, extra-large type on a smartphone or tablet screen.

The kitchen scales, kitchen thermometer, bathroom scales, tape measure, and indoor thermometer all have large, crystal clear, high-visibility screens and are easy to use. When paired with the IKONN controller or the free, accessible myIKONN app (which can be downloaded for iOS from the App Store, or for Android from Google Play) you can hear weight, temperature, length and humidity announced in a clear English voice, or read it in large print in one of eight high contrast colour settings. (A wide range of languages is available via the Controller or app.)

The IKONN Controller has standalone functions – time/date, timers, alarms, coin toss/dice roll for games, and voice notes – and adds some extra functionality to some of the household devices (for example, calculating your BMI when paired with the bathroom scales, or measuring different ingredients by volume on the kitchen scales).

It's easy to use with tactile buttons and an audio menu. A built-in voice guide can walk you through every feature step-by-step.

Going on sale in May 2026, the IKONN Colour and Light Sensor only works when plugged into the IKONN Controller and can identify more than 20 colours and five shades from very dark to very light. It also features a light sensor for finding a window or detecting if a light has been left on, and has a solid/pattern mode to help you identify your favourite shirt, skirt, or duvet cover by breaking down the colours announced.

These modern, high quality products have been thoughtfully designed to be used by the whole family as well as to enhance accessibility and independence for blind and partially sighted people. You can listen to a short interview on RNIB Connect Radio about these products here.
