World Book Day is coming but put down the glue and step away from the sewing machine – here's how to order your child's World Book Day book in braille or audio.

This year's celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading for fun is on Thursday 5 March, but you can order your chosen title in uncontracted or contracted braille, or on DAISY CD from Monday 2 February until Friday 27 March (orders will not be despatched before 25 February; orders received from 26 February should be despatched within five days).

World Book Day aims to give every child a book of their own to encourage them to explore the pleasures of books and reading – we're proud to do our part to ensure blind and partially sighted children can take part alongside their sighted peers.

You can order one of 13 World Book Day titles simply by emailing our Reader Services team. Please include the full name of the child, the title of the book they want, the format (audio, uncontracted braille, contracted braille), and the address the book is to go to. No book tokens are needed, but you can only order one book per child.

The books will be available to any child who is blind, partially sighted or print impaired – the child does not have to be registered with the RNIB Library to order a World Book Day book in braille or audio. Each child can only choose one book to order.

(Please note that Milly McCarthy and the St Patrick’s Day Pandemonium by Leona Forde is only available to customers in Northern Ireland and Bunny vs Monkey: Total chaos! by Jamie Smart is not available in braille or audio as it's unsuitable for these formats.)

You can also download titles from our Bookshare service. Children will need to be registered with the site so they or their parent/teacher can download their book.

Blind and partially sighted adults can order a free copy of a World Book Day book, to participate with their children in World Book Day. You do NOT have to be registered with the Library unless you wish to download a title.

If your child requires a large print format, please speak to Guide Dogs on 0345 143 1000 or email them at customeyes@guidedogs.org.uk.
