Part of the IKONN Accessibility System for blind and partially sighted people, this infrared thermometer measures forehead, ear, and object temperature quickly and accurately.
By default, the thermometer can be held against the forehead to read your temperature. Removing the protective cap to reveal the ear probe allows the thermometer to be used for reading ear temperature.
You can also measure object temperature, for example, a cup of coffee. Make sure the protective cap is covering the ear probe and the thermometer is turned off, before holding the mode button for three seconds. You can then scan objects (keep the device a short distance from the object surface) to measure temperatures up to 100°C.
The thermometer uses a coloured light and pattern of beeps when measuring body temperature as a general guide – green for normal temperature, orange for slightly raised temperature, red for high temperature. (These indicators are not a medical diagnosis.)
With its LCD display, beeps and tactile control buttons, the IKONN Forehead Thermometer can be used as a standalone product. When paired with an IKONN Controller or the myIKONN app (for iOS or Android), you can hear temperatures announced in Centigrade or Fahrenheit.
When paired with the free app on your smartphone or tablet, you can also get an extra-large readout on the screen in your preferred choice of eight high contrast colour settings (black on white, black on yellow, black on green, white on red, white on black, yellow on black, green on black, and red on black).
