These Wayfarer smart glasses combine a classic Ray-Ban frame design with a built-in camera, microphones and speakers, and connect via Bluetooth to the Meta AI app on your smartphone so that you can use the helpful voice-controlled features.

Using your voice with the smart glasses you can:

  • Read signs, letters, menus and packaging
  • Hear a description of shops, streets and what’s around you
  • Make hands-free video and audio calls
  • Send messages and emails
  • Get quick answers without taking out your phone.

The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have an open-ear speaker in each arm and five microphones for voice control and making calls. You can also adjust speaker volume and answer calls using the touchpad on the right arm of the glasses, and use the capture button to take a photo and start or stop video recording.

The smart glasses have a small capture light to let people know when the camera is being used to take a photo or record video.

You can use the glasses to make video calls to a family member or support person to get additional help with what's in front of you, in addition to using Meta AI to describe what the camera is seeing.

The glasses are supplied with a protective charging case which includes a battery that can recharge the glasses when they are placed inside. The case has a USB-C port that can recharge the case and glasses at the same time.

The case can be used to recharge your glasses while you are out and about, adding up to 36 hours of use (depending on how you use the glasses).

To ensure you get the most out of the smart glasses, they come with free set-up assistance and unlimited UK-based help and support from Synapptic for the first year. (If you would like additional training after this, a one-year package of continued support is available to purchase separately).

Support is primarily provided over the telephone. If needed, support can be provided using TeamViewer to remotely access your phone or tablet, with your consent. This allows Synapptic's trainers to help set up the Meta AI app, connect and configure the glasses, and diagnose and resolve any problems you may be having.

These smart glasses with transition lenses are available in two sizes: standard – suitable for most people (50mm lens width, 22mm bridge, 150mm temple length), and large (53mm lens width, 22mm bridge, 155mm temple length). You can also choose between a matte black frame with clear/grey lenses and a shiny black frame with clear/graphite green lenses.

Ray-Ban Transitions lenses adapt automatically to changing light conditions, darkening outdoors and clearing indoors. They enhance visual comfort by reducing eye strain and glare. These lenses offer 100 per cent UVA and UVB protection at all times, whether clear or darkened. They respond to UV exposure by darkening outdoors, providing comfortable shading and protecting the eyes from harmful radiation.

These smart glasses are also available with clear lenses and matte black frames, and with tinted, sunglass-style lenses and shiny black frames.

Important

  • Although Ray-Ban Meta glasses can be used with prescription lenses, these off-the-shelf glasses cannot be fitted with prescription lenses. If you would like to use Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with prescription lenses, please make an appointment with our Low Vision Centre.
